I loved going to dinner at my Swiss friend (and old neighbor) Petra's house. When we were in Switzerland she really helped me figure out a lot of things, translated for me, and truly befriended the American freaks in town. She was so wonderful. For dinner she fed me Raclette- a traditional Swiss dish of cheese that you melt at the table under this little burner and then smother over boiled potatoes. It's so so tasty. It was so fun to see how her children have grown and what fun Christmas traditions they do in Switzerland.
We also had Jared's fabulous work party... it was a riot. The theme was 70's disco. I wish I would have brought my camera. My sister made me some sweet disco ball earrings, I made my hair big, and also made the mistake of wearing heals even though I was pregnant. DUH. What was I thinking? By the end of the night I was contemplating asking one of the incredibly drunk people to cut my legs off for me. Jared wore an enormous afro all night and pilot glasses (I know those have a cooler name... not coming.) I love when my man wears afros. I met him in an afro and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for him with hair bigger than mine. Anyway, there was a really great band- open bar (I was really loving that) and all the upscale appetizers you could eat.
Another great part of the trip was the little get together we had at the Shontz's house (which just happens to be the apartment we lived in while there) with many of my friends out there. I loved seeing and catching up with all those people. I just LOVE YOU GUYS! There were several that were in the States, but we had a great turnout and lots of fun and yummy food.
We were also able to go to church on Sunday and visit the Branch and between other social arrangements and visitings and feedings we went shopping in Luzern at the Christmas market there. It was really fun to browse around and see the wares people were selling and buying... I found a few treasures.

Check out this handmade doll that someone was selling that looks like Mia and is named Mia! Too bad it cost 260 francs. It was so amazing. What an artist.

We had such a great time, and I owe it to my Mom. She is such a wonderful person. The kids loved spending time with Grandma, and we loved getting away. She's the one who made it happen. How can I ever be thankful enough for such a wonderful mother?
Dear Mom,
Someday, I will build you and Dad a little house in my enormous backyard behind my mansion. You will have two deluxe recliners and an enormous TV. I will send the servants out to bring your TV dinners and you will get frequent, unmonitored visits from your lovely grandchildren. When you wet your diapers, I will have someone change them for you. We will send you on bus trips to Vegas anytime you want. You will live your old days away in bliss- with every comfort you could need.
Love, Your Daughter
(HA. Anyone who just read that who actually KNOWS my Mom will know I am completely kidding. Probably not her ideal retirement... although by the time we actually OWN a house my mom might actually be about 95 and need her diaper changed... so maybe it will work out after all.)
Mom. I love you. That's all I can say.

I still can't believe you went to Switzerland for a Christmas party! When are you going to be in WA?
Yea, I think it's amazing that you got to go to Switzerland for your Christmas party - UPS gave us a turkey! So, Kristi and I were wondering when your next trip to NM would be. Wanna come and run a 10k with us sometime?
I want to be like you when I grow up! Seriously!
I am glad you got to do something so fun before the big #3 gets here!
So, how about the 10K? I am sure you can get in shape for it by fall time right?:)
hahahaha. Did you guys really room with me? DO you know me at all? I haven't ever ran a 10 K-- maybe I'll try it now that I am fat from 3 kids and have no cartilage left in my knees. Great idea!
I especially like the letter to mom. I was thinking... "recliner???" besides she already has a king size bed perfectly situated for watching TV how can she downsize?
