*well, that was easy.*

So a few of you readers may remember my quest to Poland for Polish pottery. If not- here's a refresher . Or, we'll just put it this way-- BLOOD, SWEAT, and TEARS.

So today I am at TJ maxx with my son. We hit the purse section, the shoe section and on to the house wear section... and there, on the back wall with the dishes is POLISH POTTERY from Boleslaweic, Poland. That's right folks. A little goldmine, just waiting for me. So I run over there and start pawing through the dishes to see what they have while Sam looks at me like I have turned looney-- which I admit I kind of did at that point. So at the TJ maxx price (half off the US retail price), the pottery was pretty darn close to what you can buy it for in the factories in Poland. Glory, Glory! So poor Sam looks at me even more warily as we RUN ( or at 30 weeks prego, waddle fast) to the front of the store for a cart and then back to the back of the store and I start loading pottery into the cart as fast as humanly possible (Mia needed to be picked up from her music class). Well, folks, I bought every piece they had but 3- and that's only because I couldn't justify having 3 butter dishes and 2 gravy dishes. That's right. I am kind of obsessive about some things- and pregnancy magnifies my little quirks. (Just ask my poor family.) While I was loading the dishes in my cart I kept expecting someone to come over and say, "Ma'am, I am sorry, we made a mistake. Those aren't for sale." But they didn't. And now their MINE ALL MINE!

Ok, so the two Polish Pottery experiences were completely different... so much so that it was a little strange being up there at the counter and buying everything while the TJ Maxx lady wrapped and bagged my treasures. When I talked (very excitedly) to Jared about the whole transaction of course he said, "so if you can get them here at TJ Maxx why did you go all the way to Poland to get them?" HELLO. He clearly does not understand that what happened today was pure luck and magic angels working in my favor. OR the way that TJ Maxx works as a store... so I calmly explained that they don't ALWAYS carry the same thing and that some boutiquey store had a few random items to sell (at full price) but no sets so sent them down the line to TJ Maxx to be discovered by Lady Luck-- in this case-- me. Plus, when you go to Poland you buy full sets, and since I already have a full set, I can fully enjoy the odds and ends that compliment my full set so perfectly and just make it, well, fuller.

Who says physical possessions can't make a person happy? I'm happy.

TJ MAXX is my number one place to visit and shop when we go back to the states. I love that place. If only our husbands understood the workings of that store - it is amazing and has made my day many times when I have gone too. And as for polish pottery, Jacob and I are convinced that it is THE best stuff - solid, virtually impossible to break, and does not get hot to the touch when you put them in the microwave. Glad you grabbed what you could - it is all beautiful!

There truly is little else that can bring as much happiness as a golden find at a discount store. I think it's part of what makes us women.

HA! Point made. Just talked to a friend who saw my pottery and wanted to get some- so she called all the TJ maxx's in the area and they all got a shipment in on Wed. The lady said that by Thursday (the day I magically fell upon the pieces) everything was gone. PURE LUCK.

Awesome!!!! Just think of it this way, if we hadn't driven to Poland and embarked on all of our little adventures to get the pottery in the first place, then you wouldn't have half the appreciation for your lucky find!

This is why I love you, Alyssa. You make me smile and I love reading about what's going on in your head as you're loading your cart full of Polish dishes. They are beautiful, by the way. I can see why they make you happy.

OH MY GOSH!! How awesome is that!? Forget going to Poland...just kidding. I'm never Lady Luck so I'd better get them here because knowing me, I'd go my whole life without ever finding them in the states. Aren't you glad you "ran in real quick" to TJ MAXX? I miss that store. I went a few times when we were in the states knowing full well I couldn't bring back a lot of stuff - did anyway. Way to go Alyssa, they're beautiful. Now have a party and use all your cool new dishes and let your neighbors "keep up with the Barlows." :)

Hey, you are as funny as ever! I remember those days in our sketchy apartments trying to make things cute when we had nothing... Well, looks like you still know how to get a good bargain. Ben says, "Hi!"
