(This is an actual picture of Sam in his underwear at the doctor for his 6 year old check up. Mia was nice enough to take it for him on my camera phone so that he can hate her for it for years to come. I am nice enough to post it on my blog so that he can hate me for it for years to come. I digress...)Funny how the worst news at the doctor isn't "I'm sorry ma'am, but your child has pneumonia (ear infection, etc.). In fact, somehow, that is good news. Why? Because you can give them an antibiotic for 10 days - 3 times a day and totally kill their immune system, but somehow the whiney baby goes away and becomes his/her cheerful self again within 2 days. The worst news you can ever receive at a doc is "It's just a virus, it needs to run it's course." Well, I hate viruses! I hate them all! I especially hate the one that has given my baby a fever and diarreah for 4 days! I hate being the human pacifier! I hate cleaning up poo and having someone cry in my ear all day long! I hate worrying about dehydration and if the baby is getting enough fluids. I hate that my house falls in shambles around me because I can't get anything done. It's enough to drive someone batty. (Don't worry, I am crazier than I sound.)
BUT. Then people do nice things like take your 4 year old who is bored out of her mind and let her play at their house all day. And bring over pedialyte and novel snacks in hope that the baby might like them. And let you complain on the phone for a while. And Daddy makes it home early and puts the kids to bed. And wakes up early with them and gets them ready for school. And somehow, the day didn't last so long. And the next day doesn't seem so intimidating.
Thanks my dear friends... you are amazing.
and
I love you, Honey (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

You crack me up (even though I know the craziness and madness of it all!) I just love how honest you are. And I loved your description about the picture of Sam at the doctor. You are an incredible Mom. Your kids are lucky to have you. Keep it up sista.
