*mamma (and) mia on broadway*

Mia just had her 4th birthday a few days ago. She's so much bigger. SO much bigger that she's afraid her clothes won't fit anymore... because she's 4. And uh oh, what if her ring doesn't fit anymore? Because she's 4. And... she can jump SO high now, and run SO fast, and get her seat belt on by herself (when she feels like it), because SHE's 4. I love how their little minds work.

We started off the celebrations by taking her to the big city to see Little Mermaid on Broadway! Her first broadway show. She LOVED it. We went with good friends Katie and Abby. I was a little worried because we decided to do a night time performance (which starts at bedtime). But the girls were so excited they could hardly stand it. She thought Arial was wonderful, Prince Eric was handsome, Sebastian was funny, Ursula was scary, and Flounder was extra cool because he was a kid actor. We also hit the M&M store for some goodies before hand. We were set!

Oh I have to tell you. Notice the little girl's bags in the first picture. We bought those at the show and when we got to the car Katie and I were talking and hear in the backseat... "ahh ahh ahhh ahh ahhhhhhh" sings Mia (Arial) "Keeep Singing!!!" yells Abby (Ursula.) (They were putting her voice into the seashell.) Then they'd switch roles. It was so cute.

Mom's input on the show... I loved it too! It had all of my favorites songs from when I was 11-- amazing choreography (they all had "wheelies" on- so danced and glided all at the same time), new songs, really cool visuals, great acting, cool effects... and they added a little to the story-- Prince Eric actually seems like he's into Arial and learns to love her even without her voice which I thought was an improvement on the movie plot.

A night to remember for sure. I love you Mia Bia! Birthday part 2 tomorrow... mommy is tired (and wants to watch American Idol... :)

One of friend's daughters, if you catch her unawares when she's by herself, sings that part where she's singing for Ursula over and over again to herself so this made me laugh.

How darling are they! What a great idea - I can't believe she is getting that BIG! I think that's a musical I would enjoy too. I saw Beauty and the Beast and loved it, so why not Mermaid? You're such a fun mom. Give that little/BIG 4 year old a kiss from us!
