There was a fire in the neighboring village over the weekend at a local insulation factory. It was really large and dramatic with even a few explosions that even put Hollywood to shame. We watched the action and took some pictures from the top of a neighboring hill.
Since then seems like all the kids can talk about are fires. Sam has been really nervous to go to bed at night and Mia keeps talking about the "burned up car" that we saw in the wreckage. Thinking that it would help, we had a family night about what to do if there was a fire at our house. I think we made things worse for Sam. He is very concerned any time I use the stove and makes sure that I am being very careful with the "fire" I am using to cook the food. At night he gets really scared to go to sleep and makes me say a special prayer for him to feel better. Any suggestions from anyone about how to help kids that are scared to go to sleep at night?

no suggestions, but the same thing happened with us. Just don't "test" the fire alaram to make sure it works with the kids around. They will wake up to the slightest sound for weeks.
There was a fire in the williamson's neighborhood last year and the kids talked about it for weeks. Were you there then? Someone was. Anyway it just takes time to wear off.
