*only slightly loco*

We made it to Switzerland. There is always a point on the flight over that you think "I think I have really gone crazy this time. It's finally happened." But after you get off the plane and get a little sleep you look around the cobblestone streets and ancient alleyways, eat a little gelato and think "it's all worth it." We flew into Milan, Italy on Saturday. We spent most of the day in random Italian stores looking for a booster seat for Mia. (We forgot hers in the car when we got dropped off at the airport in NY.) It always amazes me that they don't carry booster seats. We went to 3 stores and bought the last one. I practiced a little of my sign language that has gotten rusty and tried to remember what language I was trying to say "do you speak English" in. "Spreken Sie... no" "Parles vous... no. " Ah yes, "Parle Englese." There it is. Didn't do much good because they didn't speak it anyway. But after we found the seat we were able to do a bit of sight seeing in Milan before driving to Switzerland on Sunday. We mainly just checked out the Duomo di Milano in the center of town (above). Amazing. The kids aren't used to the heat and thought there was something wrong with our "new car" because it was so hot inside. I tried to explain that the car had nothing to do with it, but I think they are still trying to figure that out. Our car is awesome by the way-- BMW wagon-- brand new. We drove off the lot with 3 km on the dash. We've done our best to "break it in".

So now we're in Switzerland. We've hit the pool twice (pools here are actually quite like water parks.) My kids have loved it. We also went to HeidiLand the other day... supposedly where Johanna Spiri said the book was set. That was pretty awesome. I can't upload pics because I don't have my computer, so you'll have to wait on that. I still think Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have spent a lot of time with my dear, dear friends here. They are more like sisters. Three of the girls are pregnant so I was able to go to a baby shower the other night and hang with them. I love these girls!

We hit a slight wrinkle in our travel plans when Mia started to throw up this morning. A couple of kids at the baby shower the other night had the bug, so I was kind of expecting it, but still sucks. Hoping for a speedy recovery so that we can do our trip next week. We're planning on driving to Croatia and hitting the beaches there. We'll see how it goes. I've already had a lot of laughable moments since getting here. I wish I could think of some of them. I'll post if I can soon. Thank goodness for my friend Rachel who is letting us stay at her house so I don't have to camp out in a hotel with a throwing up kid. I love my friends.

Sounds like an amazing trip. Enjoy every minute. It is a drenched, soaking, miserable mess here so don't be anxious to return here anytime soon. Haven't seen the sun for MANY days....maybe even weeks. xoxo

I'm glad that you posted. I was wondering if you would while you were out there. I'm missing my 4 x a week calls.

Oh man, this post made me miss Europe SO much! And I totally agree about the flight over- just when you're ready for a padded room you land and enjoy the beauty of Europe and it's like the flight never happened.

I'm glad you made it back again! Your kids are quite the international travelers. Good luck with the flu bug...that is a bummer!
