*scotland*

In Scotland we stayed in a wonderful bed and breakfast near Edinburgh. The building was a lovely old farmhouse from the late 1800's and the owners were so wonderful and accommodating. They had a little girl named Charlotte who was 3 and the kids loved having a playmate as well as a garden with a trampoline and lots of toys. They would have been perfectly happy if we had just stayed and hung out at the bed and breakfast for the entire 3 days in Scotland. The breakfast here was really great and made to order. Jared even tried haggis one morning with his meal... kidneys, liver, and onions mixed with oats and made into a little cake... YUM! Here's a little picture collage of our B&B.

Day 9: Exploring Edinburgh

The first place we went was the Scottish National Museum. It was a really great facility with lots of really cool exhibits-- and best of all it was FREE! The kids loved the wild animal exhibit that was not unlike the animal exhibit in the movie "Night at the Museum" thus Mia's claim that the "night at the museum part" was her favorite part of the trip. They had tons of crazy stuff in the museum, but we had to keep on keeping on.

The next thing we saw was the "Golden Mile". It's the main drag in Edinburgh with lots of old churches, buildings, tartan souvenirs and of course some historical significance I know nothing about. I tried to talk Jared into getting a manly looking kilt, but alas. The kids had lots of fun fooling around on in the dark alleys and on the cobblestone streets.

Still more Scotland to come... I can't post fast enough! We head out on an 18 hour journey to the USA tomorrow... so gotta get some shut-eye for the big day. Hopefully I'll get some good blogging in next week. It's hard to cover a 21 day trip! Wish me luck (and sanity) on the big flight tomorrow.
