Where the living is easy

We made it back!  We had the most amazing trip.  I feel so... rested.  Yes, crazy how you can lug 3 kids under the age of 6 across the world and still have a vacation-- but it's true-- I feel great!

We had many adventures which I'll relate as I post pictures.  Looking back at the pics I have such a warm fuzzy.  I love my little adventurers.  I love my husband who shares my sense of craziness and comes up with international itineraries for us.  I love that my kids beg to go to Disneyland and we make them go to Croatia instead.  I love that more than once on this trip Jared and I laughed together until we cried.

This book will have 3 chapters... Switzerland, Croatia and Venice, Italy.  I'll get them out soon.  Pinky swear.  Here's a couple teasers...

Engelberg, Switzerland

Drinking the falls, Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

Yogurt Aisle, Random Grocery Store, Rovinj, Croatia

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia (Part of our 5 mile Trek)

Speedboat to Murano, Italia

Common sight, Jared and Kids, Streets of Venice

Roman Colosseum, Pula, Croatia

-------

This trip accomplished one thing that I am truly grateful for... it reconnected Mia and Sam.

Seems like they have fought more and more the last few months--- their interests right now are completely different and they stopped playing with each other.  Mia is in imaginary mode and Sam (unfortunately) has had a reality check-- and he likes to enforce it on any imaginary hopes and aspirations, crushing them on the way.  But... because we were gone for 2 1/2 weeks and they just had one another as playmates... they have become friends again.  Sam has realized that none of his friends at school will know if he plays pretend with Mia.  Mia has started to talk Star Wars lingo with him.  They are playing together.  And I love it.  And it's continued
since they got home.  Crossing fingers...

Stay tuned for more Barlow Adventures.

Welcome back! Glad you guys had a great trip! That's funny about opting out of Disneyland for far off europe. That's awesome!

What an amazing trip. You don't seem to let 3 little kids slow you down. I am impressed!

I've been thinking about your traveling family ever since I read this post yesterday. What strikes me is how adventurous and unafraid you are to travel with your three young'uns. It really is amazing. It's going to be so neat when your kids are older and can look back and see how much of the world they've seen. It's remarkable!

what!?! you took your kids to Europe. I knew you were crazy but wow! Honestly I am just stunned at your sense of adventure. You have done so much with your family. You make me feel like a bad parent. These are memories you will never forget. Are you coming to Oregon this summer? Please let me know because I would love to see you.

So if we decide to take a trip to Europe, would you and Jared come too and be our tour guides? I'm serious. You guys would be awesome travel buddies and Mike and I would do our best to keep up.
